LIMA, PERU -- -- An expedition, led by Dr. Frederick Mendel of Miskatonic's archeology department, to the Nazca Plateau in Peru has mysteriously disappeared. Authorities in Peru are at a loss to explain the disappearance, and have not ruled out foul play.
Dr. Mendel, along with five grad-students from the univerity were in Peru to study the mysterious paintings that cover the plateau. The paintings are said to be anywhere from one thousand to ten thousand years in age.
It was Dr. Mendel's theory that the more recent paintings that depict animals were merely attempts at copying the massive size of the older paintings. These older paintings have baffled scientists for many years. Mendel believed that they may have formed a message or warning.
The identities of the students that accompanied Dr. Mendel have not yet been released.
