Ex-Priest Linked to Deaths
URAGUAY (AP) -- Inmates using crowbars and hoes on Tuesday unearthed another mass grave linked to a
doomsday religious sect -- this site hidden under the floor at the home of Pedro Guererra, an excommunicated priest who was one
of the cult's leaders.
Twenty-eight bodies, most apparently smothered in what authorities are calling a vegetarian pudding , were pulled
from the grave before nightfall forced workers to halt.
Many more bodies appeared to remain buried at the site.
Scenes of carnage connected to the Starry Wisdom Sect have
followed one after another in the lush hills of southwest Uraguay since mid-March. The latest findings brings the
number of murders linked to the cult to at least 590.
