Police Release Sketch of Suspect

INNSMOUTH -- Police are searching for several people who might have information about the disappearance of missing Rowley teen Elizabeth Baskin. Baskin has been missing since September 17 when she failed to return home after a night out with friends.

Police have developed a composite sketch of a possible material witness in the case but were waiting until several other witnesses had been interviewed to release the sketch, said Innsmouth police Sgt. Jim Gasaway.

Police Sketch

Police were holding the sketch, "because it looked like pretty much everyone in this town," Gasaway said.

Investigators also are looking for several people who might have been in Lafayette Park between 11 p.m. September 16 and 4 a.m. on September 17.

The park is located off Rowley Road near the area where the 1992 tan extended cab pickup Elizabeth was driving was found abandoned.

A recent telephone tip alerted police to possibility that a group of people might have been in the park that night, Gasaway said.

A search of the park Tuesday revealed that while the park is closed at night, there are several ways to get in, he said.

Tuesday's search for Elizabeth was focused on a pond off Rowley Road behind the old Marsh Refinery.

The Innsmouth Police Department dive team searched the pond for several hours after Essex County Sheriff's Department search-and-rescue dogs reacted to the pond Monday night, but nothing was found.
