Only twice has the ritual been performed somewhat successfully by members of SPONGE. The first time was on myself.
11-29-95 : Ritual is performed by Dr. Bustoffson on my remains. My subsequent revival, while miraculous, was frought with mishaps. Prior to revival, my body was down to about 35% of its former mass, yet I was returned at 100% capacity. However, within hours I began to deteriorate dramatically, and had to be frozen for the better part of a year.
10-04-96 : Ritual is performed on Historian Nichols. His regrowth occurs at an accelerated rate, and his body spontaneously combusts before cellular activity is recorded.
02-15-01 : Ritual is performed on Barney's remains. His body is regrown, but Shoggoth Master's cells have bonded with Barney's and he is regrown as a combined entity.
03-14-01 : Ritual is performed again on Barney's remains after painstaking separation of cells. Regrowth is successful, without any discernable problems.
Postulations: The state of the body before regrowth may seriously affect success of ritual. Salve must be applied to prevent subsequent breakdown of body parts.
